Meet Deb!
by Liv, O.T.S.Â
Deb is a member of the American Stroke Foundation. Her favorite parts of the ASF program are the exercise and equipment she gets to use, the people and the atmosphere, and the staff. Deb really values the friendships and the support she has gotten from being part of ASF.
When Deb is not at her ASF group, she enjoys sending and receiving mail, doing activities that exercises her brain, and spending time with her family and friends. Outside of American Stroke Foundation she has a great support system that consists of her husband Steve, many family members, and many friends who are checking in with her and spending time with her.
Deb says that life has become very different for her after having a stroke. She said that even though her life is different, she wants to keep moving forward and making progress.
American Stroke Foundation has positively impacted Deb by giving her a whole new community of people that can empathize with her and has facilitated many meaningful relationships for her. She says that the relationships she has formed at ASF have helped contribute to her path to progress, especially with the creative conversation activities she participates in. Overall, Deb says American Stroke Foundation has created an atmosphere for her that is a breath of fresh air and finding laughter with others has been very relieving for her.
Deb’s words of wisdom for everyone are to try yoga and mediation. She says that taking time for meditation and mindfulness can get you through your hardest days.
